Since the club formed in 1967, it has hosted and led a yearly hunter's safety program. The club's certified instructors, Cliff Bennett, Matt Bennett, Ken Borgman, Chrissy Cook, Kenny Cook, Roger Cook, Bob Ruch, Lindsey Ruch (Jr. instructor), Carl Schutter and Tim Schutter, along with several other volunteers from the club, provide a safe and informative learning environment. Each year there is a DNR Conservation Officer who speaks to the class and a representative from each of these organizations: Turkey Hunters, Muskegon Muzzleloaders, and Archery, who share their knowledge and passion for the sport and hunting. Each year the class is held the last full week of March, on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings, finishing up with a full day on Saturday with test and range use. Our instructors and volunteers help the students with rifle, archery and muzzle loading shoots. The club has purchased special guns and archery equipment just for this use.
